Our Services 2019-12-12T20:51:32+00:00

Our practice focuses on the “Art of Patient-Centered Dosing”.  We recognize the importance of balancing your hormones, thyroid, and adrenals with overall proper nutrition and fitness.

While our hormones are frequently genetically influenced, in this current day and age, we are exposed to multiple toxins through our air/food/water. Many of these toxins disrupt our endocrine system. Because of this, more people are facing imbalances in estrogens, progesterone, testosterone and/or thyroid. High stress levels can push our adrenal function out of balance. It is our belief that by balancing each of these hormones effectively, we can reclaim a high energy, youthful quality of life.

  • Bio-Identical hormones–all forms of delivery
  • Thyroid balancing
  • HPA-Axis, adrenal insufficiency
  • Multiple laboratories in our system for specialized testing

Why Optimal Hormones Medical for your hormone treatment?

“The Art of Patient-Centered Dosing”

We each have very unique needs and require specific attention to these needs in order to THRIVE. Our approach is to review your laboratory studies, but more importantly consider all of the factors such as symptoms, goals and aspirations in detail and find the exact right fit for each individual, man, and woman. One size does not fit all.

HORMONES:

We believe in the Art of Patient-Centered Dosing where we each have very unique needs and require specific attention to these needs in order to THRIVE. Our approach is to review your laboratory studies, but more importantly consider all of the factors such as symptoms, goals and aspirations in detail and find the exact right fit for each individual, man and woman. One size does not fit all.

We specialize in all forms of Bio-Identical Hormones, which are essentially identical to our own natural hormones, including topical cream/gels, dissolvable tablets/troches and occasionally injections. Our preferred method of delivery is subcutaneous administration. The beauty of pellets is the consistent release of therapeutic levels of hormone. Daily or weekly administration creates peaks and valleys that are less effective overall.

WOMEN:

PERIMENOPAUSE/MENOPAUSE

FACTS:

  • There are about 37.5 million women reaching or currently at menopause
  • The average age of menopause is 51 years, however, there is a wide range distribution from 40-58 years
  • The average life expectancy is 84 years old, which means that women spend around half of their adult life as a post-menopausal female
  • 3500 women enter menopause every year
  • Symptoms may begin up to 15 years earlier
  • Most women are affected in more ways than they realize
  • Most women DO NOT EVER “get over” or “get through” menopause. While symptoms may abate, the invisible consequences can be dire, including urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, dry skin, bone loss, or osteopenia or osteoporosis.
  • Perimenopause can last 2-10 years prior to final menstrual cycle.  However, this still creates imbalances despite continuation of menses.

SYMPTOMS:

Painful intercourse

Whole body: fatigue, night sweats, hot flashes, increased sweating, skin dryness, loss of muscle strength or tone, or osteoporosis

Sleep: early awakening or insomnia

Menstrual: absence of menstruation or irregular menstruation

Hair: dryness or thinning

Also common: anxiety, irritability, moodiness/depression, vaginal dryness, weight gain/excessive weight loss, constipation, urinary urgency, incontinence, or infections

Sexual: reduced sex drive, difficult to achieve orgasms

BENEFITS WITH TREATMENT:

  • Resolution of hot flashes and/or night sweats
  • Improved mood
  • Improved quality of skin, less dry and more supple
  • Improved and even resolved urinary urgency and incontinence
  • Resolution of dry vaginal tissues which relieves painful intercourse or frequent bladder infection
  • Slows down bone loss and thinning

HOW TO HEAL – BALANCE – THRIVE

ESTROGEN IMBALANCE/DEFICIENCY: For women, this may lead to hot flashes, night sweats, emotional sensitivity, dry or thinning skin, vaginal dryness, urinary incontinence and/or urgency. Bones may thin at a faster rate. There is hope and help! We are experts at reversing the symptoms of menopause or perimenopause to help you live a younger more youthful life.

FACTS:

  • Present in both men and women
  • Large amounts in women, very small in men
  • Has OVER 400 functions in the body
  • Control hot flashes
  • Maintain bone density
  • Helps maintain memory
  • Maintains collagen in your skin
  • Increases serotonin and dopamine
     (“Happy” hormones in the brain)

PROGESTERONE: This hormone is key in conjunction with estrogens for balancing the body. It protects the uterus and regulates the menstrual cycle and along with estrogen promotes health of the cardiovascular and immune systems as well. Progesterone deficiencies may cause many of the same symptoms as low testosterone including weight gain and increased cholesterol levels.

TESTOSTERONE: For both men and women, the lack of testosterone may cause fatigue, loss of muscle strength or tone, poor exercise recovery, migraine headaches, muscle/joint aches and pains, worsening of arthritis pain, memory loss/brain fog, low libido with potentially poor orgasms or erectile function, poor bone strength or development. Additionally, we have seen impressive results for those with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s to name just a few.

MEN

ANDROPAUSE

Andropause occurs when your body has decreasing testosterone and increasing estrogens. This leads to decreased libido or erectile dysfunction, increased chest and stomach fat, and multiple other symptoms as listed below.

FACTS:

Male menopause or “MANopause”

  • At least 25% of males over 50 have low testosterone, many starting to lose testosterone as early as the mid 20’s, decreasing exponentially as they age
  • Adequate testosterone is absolutely critical to overall well being
  • Low testosterone is common in men with diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, muscle and bone loss, sleep apnea & other chronic diseases
  • Linked to early heart disease
  • Underdiagnosed
  • As T levels drop and men age, erectile dysfunction (ED) can be an issue. There is evidence to suggest that men that have intercourse less than once a week have greater potential for ED.

SYMPTOMS:

Whole-body:Fatigue, aches/pains, loss of muscle strength, bone thinning

Mental:Brain fog/memory loss, depression or irritability

Sleep: Early awakening or insomnia

Also common: Dry skin, irritability, moodiness/depression, reduced sex drive, weight gain in chest/stomach, migraine headaches

Sexual:Low sexual interest, inability to achieve or maintain an erection

BENEFITS WITH TREATMENT:

  • Increased muscle strength
  • Reduced body fat
  • Improves cholesterol
  • Enhanced libido and/or performance
  • Migraine headache relief
  • Increased energy, vitality & zest for life
  • Improved feeling of overall well-being
  • Improvement in mood or irritability
  • Relief of depression/anxiety symptoms
  • Improved cognitive clarity
  • Improved memory and focus
  • Cardiovascular protection
  • Increased bone strength

HOW TO HEAL – BALANCE – THRIVE

There is hope and help!  We are experts at reversing the symptoms of andropause, menopause or perimenopause to help you live a younger more youthful life.

TESTOSTERONE:  For both men and women, the lack of testosterone may cause fatigue, loss of muscle strength or tone, poor exercise recovery, migraine headaches, muscle/joint aches and pains, worsening of arthritis pain, memory loss/brain fog, low libido with potentially poor orgasms or erectile function. Poor bone strength or development. Additionally, we have seen impressive results for those with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s to name just a few.

FACTS

  • Present in both men and women
  • Large amounts in men-small amounts in women
  • Men age 20-70 will lose 1-3% production per year
  • Women age 20-40 lose up to 50% per year

THYROID BALANCE

Adequate function of our thyroid is critical to our body’s metabolism. Low thyroid can lead to scalp and brow hair loss, dry skin, brittle nails, weight gain or inability to lose, constipation, cold hands/cold feet, lower overall body temperature, brain fog and/or depression. Too much thyroid on board puts the system into overdrive and can cause cardiac arrhythmias, weight loss or anxiety.

We focus on a functional medicine approach to thyroid where we evaluate your laboratory studies, but most importantly evaluate your symptoms, designing a program that is specific to your needs.

 ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY

In our world of high stress many people struggle with adrenal fatigue which prevents adequate creation of steroid hormones. Deficiency in cortisol and other hormones created by the adrenal glands may cause: fatigue, weakness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, abdominal pain, changes in skin coloring, low blood pressure, or blood sugar.

We believe in a lifestyle and nutraceutical approach to adrenal gland support.
